Ah ha.

I’m hear mofos, I am here. Lots of stuff to report if it was my business to report it, but it isn’t, so I will not. Yes, I am a tease. Things in the personal department are going good, despite my usual efforts to shoot myself in the foot. Not to mention it isn’t my place to share something that involves someone else. The blog is about my thoughts and issues and I really only have grounds to share that much…so that is all I will share.

I hope all is well in Readerville. I will have a tasty rant any day now. I think with the Schiavo case we all need to take a deep breath and step back from our political beliefs and try and see the human side to all this. In all likelihood, Terri herself has been “dead” for years. Her parents are going through hell for a second time. I just hope that the way this played out was the most humane scenario possible. I don’t know. If you are honest without yourself, you don’t know either. So please, think before you post a comment about how wrong it is for her to die. If I hear the “God said death is wrong” rant again, I will go insane. God, my friends, meant for this woman to pass away a long time ago. Man came up with the equipment keeping her in a vegetative state.

Funny song lyric in my head today:

Jesus built my car
It’s a love affair
Mainly Jesus and my hot rod

It is an extremely hard thing to judge. First of all, it shouldnt be for politicians to get involved in. This is a living hell for her parents but imagine what life is without...well...life... for her. We should place quality of life over quantity of life. This is a sad moment for all parties involved and I take the side of the husbands girlfriend in this. I have heard her called terrible names, the most disgusting person alive, people have compared her to what they are saying Michael Jackson is. As if it is on the same level. She is just a woman. Terri died 15 years ago. Her heart still beats sure, but peopel have to move on. And to take out anger on the husbands girlfriend? It seems barbaric to me. Anyone else agree?

This case has been played on emotions, and I dont think anyone who knows about what is happening hasnt played the "what if" game. It is a great time to reevalute your life and possibly write out those ole' advanced directives. I have.

It is also not fair to use the tapes that have been played. Well, I take that back, it is fair, but it is misleading. People in PVS have reflexes. The moans and "smiles" are all that. The most ridiculous thing I have heard is that she said "I wanna live". To someone just reading the headlines, and following the story loosely it seems as if she is still alive.

I do think that the way she is going is horrible. Although, being in a PVS, she cannot feel it. This opens a good argument for euthenasia. I would not want my feeding tubes pulled and starve to death, just a simple shot would be all that I needed. But if this is the only legal way to end this poor woman's suffering then I guess it is all we can do.

It is a pity that we can turn soemthing like this into another politically divided scenario. I passed the Wonder of Truth christian bookstore today (they always have such wonderful signs) and they had "You would get 10 years for starving a dog. Yet you would allow Terri to starve to death?"

This is NOT the same thing. One is blatant cruelty. The other is the means to an end. Sure, not the prettiest, but the only one that is legal to take.

I am so torn on this entire subject. It has been all I have thought about for the past few weeks. Now I will go to sleep and just hope she passes peacefully. Thanks for the thoughtful blog Jonathan.

Speaking of Terry Shiavo, check this out. This is truly offensive. You'll probably be appalled, yet laugh. Much like I did.
